SLEDDING SAFETY

  • Sled at your own risk; there is no staff supervision at any park.
  • Check all areas for possible hazards.
  • Sledding is permitted during daylight hours only! All parks close at dusk.
  • Wear a helmet / bike helmets ok.
  • Keep arms and hands up and inside the sled at all times.
  • Safest Sledding position is: Sitting down, Facing forward, riding one at a time.
  • Don't ride backwards, standing, or lying down, face first.
  • The safest sleds can be steered.
  • Don't wear long scarves. They can get caught and are a strangulation hazard.
  • Wear mittens or gloves.
  • Dress warmly.
  • Children under 12 should be watched at all times by an adult.
  • Be aware of children in parking lots!
  • Watch out for other sledders! Be aware of your surroundings and of possible hazards and people you could sled into.
  • Go up the hill at the sides, not the middle or where there are sledders.
  • Have fun!
